Phuket's Climate

There are three seasons in Phuket.

1. Cool season
2. Hot season
3. Rainy season

Most of the Asian land is warmer during the months from May to November. The air over the Indian Ocean is heavy and colder and it pushes the warmer air over continental area. To fill this gap the warm, moist air from the southwest comes over Indian Ocean. This results in the lots of rain and moist air.

Then in the season from November to April, the temperature of the ocean becomes higher as compared to the land

The Cool Season

The period of the cool season is of four months which is started in November and ends at the end of April. In the month of November you will surely feel the northeast winds have started which means that now the rainy season is finished. Tourists like to visit Phuket in this season and they think that this is the best time to come here and enjoy the environment here when the sky is mostly blue. Rains are not much, humidity is also not high and temperature is not very high. And another factor which attracts the most visitors to come and enjoy is that of the attraction of Christmas and New Year. Both come in the mid of this season so in December and January you will find lots of westerns arriving there to enjoy their holidays.

The Hot Season

The hot season here in Phuket is started with the beginning of March and remains till the starting of May. This season comes for a shorter period of time. In that smaller period you will find that the weather remains dry with sun shining clearly. The temperature in this season is found to be quite hot. The only advantage for the visitors to come here in this season is that they will have to pay less to stay in hotels because rates in this season become less.

The Rainy Season

The Rainy Season in this region begins in early May. As the monsoon winds from the southwest enter Phuket in this month to bring the rain. May, September and October are considered to be the wettest months of the year. During these three months you would observe the highest rainfall for longer periods. So if anyone has come here for enjoying in sun and to do outing, then he will surely be disappointed to come here in these months. So if you have a plan then think again whether this season suits you to visit Phuket or not.

The temperature in this season is obviously not high and remains quite pleasant. Cool breeze continues to blow here in this season. But it does not rain continuously throughout this season there come several days without having a single drop of rain.

In these months rate of the hotels obviously become low. Similarly you can get vehicles and other such things at rents with a lower price etc. So June, July and August being the lesser wet months may be helpful for visitors because rate are quite low. But one cannot afford to come in May, September and October because these months being the wettest.
But there is a danger in this season that at the western beaches of Phuket there come large waves and severe undercurrents through monsoon winds. And almost twenty people die every year. And in such conditions you will find red flags raising there. So avoid swimming in these conditions.
