Let’s Write a Book on Thailand

There are many travel guides available for online sale and several positive-reviewed books on Thailand, but I believe we all trust personal experience more than anyone’s stories and advice.

Reading Lonely Planet Thailand’s Islands and Beaches or Frommer’s Thailand would persuade any reader to go visit this corner of paradise, especially the regions of Koh Samui, Phuket and Hua Hin. But what if we were to write a book? What kind of view would we choose? A travel guide with useful information for future tourists? A historical briefing to better understand the culture and civilization of Thailand? An environmental approach concerning flora and fauna of the Thai islands? How would we choose to go about writing it?

Personally, I would love to gather all the thought scraps from resort and hotel guest-books and merely suggest possible visitors like me the sensations and experiences this marvelous land has to offer. I am certain I would find a plethora of comments on the thrills of water sports (surfing, sailing, kiteboarding, jet-ski etc) and excited golfers’ admiration expressed in anonymous praises. In addition, I should come across infatuated accounts of romantic moonlight walks and teenage anecdotes of language-barrier situations. Presenting Thailand as incoherent bits and pieces would envelop it in a fantastic aura of unique experiences. As all exotic places, Thailand charms its guests from the very moment, appealing to all six senses and alluring us into its heart of color and vivacity.

Let’s visit Thailand and write a book on it, even if in the form of a personal (travel) diary full of clumsy attempts at describing national parks, ancient temples, luxurious beaches, adventurous sports, elaborate spas, insinuating night clubs and candid indigenes.
