7.5 meter PKD Brooza II
I received the PKD Brooza II of 7.5 meter length a couple of days ago. I spread it out in the living room to have a view of my new Brooza. There were some modifications in the graphics. The Big Bird’s image was given at the top as well as bottom of foil .so from now on I too view the bird during flight. Zip outs are provided which will be helpful to those who wash out these kites. It is also added to busters. Bridles have not been changed to ensure quality of line. Adjustable system for better turning has been provided. It’s now easy to turn without disconnecting flying lines. The flying lines are similar to that of Buster II. The lines have been included without change in the price from Brooza I. The handles are very long. Covering form top till the butts with rubber provides great comfort
during flight. Brake cleats are the same. They are adjustable.
Expectations from Brooza II 7.5mtr: I would like to achieve greater heights from static jumps along with good float. Hope it doesn’t give me a rock drop effect. Other things like smooth power build during flight depending on speed of flight; ease in launching is what I expect. I should get a good view also of the thing below and the surroundings.
I had a brief flight of 3 to 5 km this afternoon in light breeze. It was gusting at -2 occasionally. My kite performed as expected. It is hard to gain height in light winds like this with just 4 cells open. But once it gets the lift it climbs up gradually. It took some time to inflate it as the wind was blowing lightly. A few quick turns made it easy to make my toe almost touch the ground. Coming to handles, the response was simple wonderful while switching it to cross over bars. It was easy to spin it on wing tip I suppose. Anyway the influence of light wind has to be taken into consideration for its performance. I had some decent scuds of few meters before I could land. It will be a handful one at times of strong wind.
I felt very comfortable with my first flight with this kite. It had great power providing grace to it. It has very quick turning capability. In one occasion I had to add crossover bar to apply it pull along brake line. It makes the launching easy due to greater initial lift obtained. A kite which comes in this size will have to maintain power in low wind levels. Quick turnings should also be possible at light wind conditions. Its ability to fly in light breeze might be reduced due to the limited leading edge inlet size provided. For high winds, this kite can prove to be the right machine with great power and pull. It also has good boosting and float. The shape is maintained under stress conditions by a bridle which is strong enough. On the whole it was a refined ride with less uplifting feel.
