Jumping and Kite Surfing
In a beginner class of kite surfing, a jump is one of the easiest tasks you can perform. It will be a matter of great joy for a beginner making a jump. If you have not been in air, floating with all your weight balanced by air and the kite, this would be feeling you would love to recall in your lifetime at any moment. It gives you a feeling of conquest. During the initial training the instructor will guide you the different aspects of jumping and the do’s and don’t’s while performing. The jump may be easy but landing back in right posture is one of the hardest things after a jump.
There are many ways in which you can perform a jump. The speed is very important while jumping. If you have not gained enough speed before jumping the kite may become instable due to an initial descent. So make sure you have gained sufficient speed before making a jump. It is easier to jump from a plain surface. So locate a plain surface and launch yourself from it. After gaining speed, reel in your kite to lift the board upward. Turn your kite quickly to overhead and bring the front of board up as you begin to gain lift. Use the back foot for pitching the board at an angle of about 60 degrees and then push it up hard. You have to take care of your posture as well. Make sure that our body is crouched and knees are bent. With the combined effort of lift and power from board you can find yourself soaring up into the sky.
The lift and hang obtained depends on power generated. After achieving peak jump you will have to keep the nose of board tilted slightly at an angle and your knees should be in bent position so that the impact is achieved avoiding a crash. For many other variations in jumps you can approach the certified instructors for help. The most important factors you have to take care of are the velocity of wind and speed on water. The lift attained depends on the combined result of your rate of speed and steady maintenance of a good angle for lift. If you can maintain these factors in right proportions, you can reach a significant height of ten to twenty feet without any problem.
One thing you have to remember is that the higher you go while flying it’s the harder to land at the desired point. It depends on your assessment of the conditions and skill in maneuvering. While landing do not forget to grip the bar attached to your handle firmly to withstand the impact. Just maintain the board between chops and waves. This will help you in landing by maintaining a gradual slope. Otherwise the descent becomes too steep and as you approach the ground it becomes uncontrollable thus resulting in a crash land. When you are practicing it avoid interference or getting close to swimmers or other surfers.
