Hua Hin Kite surfing center
There is no doubt that the beach in Hua Hin is the best beach in Thailand for kite surfing and to learn kitesurfing. With it's two kilometer length and not a single rock on it, it's both safe and enjoyable to be on. At the school location there are also not too many people that stay there. The wind is here from October until April - May 2008

Hua Hin also hosts the summer palace of the Royal family of Thailand. This is the reason Hua Hin still has it's unique charm and its beautiful beaches.
Our kite school is located just outside the city limit with walking distance from town. You can also take any motorbike taxi or local taxi (tuk tuk). Just tell them you want to go to Soi 83. Our kiteboarding school house facility for teaching and relaxing with free wireless Internet if wanted. Here you also find our kite shop and rental corner. Outside you will have space for washing, drying, packing and unpacking your kitesurfing equipment.

The kite school is situated outside the crowded beaches of Hua Hin, and the area consists of mainly condominiums and houses. In one kilometer each direction there are only sand to see. During the North East season you can also do a 2 - 3 kilometer down winder and take a taxi back to town for a few bucks. Also remember to bring some sunglasses when you kitesurf. The sun is strong the whole day and it's easy to get sun burned. Even on a cloudy day you will get burned unless you use sun lotion. When you enter the sea you can walk almost 50 meter in knee / chest deep water making it perfectly safe for kite boarding and teaching.
Wind details
The main season in Hua Hin goes from October until May. During that time you can expect two different wind scenarios:
October until January
The wind comes in side shore from North East and are controlled bye the global wind systems. The wind starts in the morning and ends some time after lunch. You can also expect some waves during this period. In Thailand this is the winter season. The air temperature during this season is very comfortable with +/-30 degrees in the shadow. The water temperature is also around 28 - 30 degrees.
January until May
During this season the wind switch 180 degrees and comes in from the South East. Also perfectly side shore during this period. The weather also changes from winter to summer in April and the temperatures are raising. The water temperature is now around 30 - 32 degrees and the air temperature is 30 - 40 degrees. Now the wind comes later in the afternoon and is controlled by local conditions. The wind dies out when the sun goes down around 6pm. The beach is now very wide and very good for setting up, launching and landing you kite.

Kiteboarding in Hua Hin is always a pleasure, and the water is warm and clean. When you feel hungry there are many restaurants on the beach serving you delicious Thai food with a smile. Also there are several places on the beach you can receive Thai or oil massage for 200 baht pr hour

Alternative kite surfing beaches

If the wind direction or the high tide prevent us from kitesurfing on Hua Hin beach, there are always alternatives. The best alternative is at Pak Nam Pran beach, just 20 minute drive outside the city of Hua Hin. This beach is also very long, and even at high tide the beach are more than enough wide to kitesurf and to learn kiteboarding.
How to get to our kite school in Hua Hin:

There are several other ways of getting here and the list starts with the cheapest way:
- Train: 150 - 200 baht one way. Takes a bit long time (4 - 5 hours) and there are not too many departures pr day
- Bus: 200 - 300 baht one way. There are plenty of buses going every day from the central bus station in Bangkok
- Mini van: 300 - 500 baht one way. More comfortable than a bus and they leave from the same place as the buses
- Taxi: Around 2.500 baht one way. The most convenient way to get there as you can leave directly from the airport or from your hotel in Bangkok
What to do before or after the wind? (Or on the very few no wind days)
Hua Hin is also very known for its many golf clubs. You will find up to 10 golf / driving ranges withing 10 - 30 minutes from the city. If you are sporty you can rent a mountain bike and explore the area. If you are more of the lazy type you can rent a motorbike or car and go sightseeing. On the beach you will also find several other activities like banana boat and jet-ski / water scooter. A bit south of Hua Hin you will find a very nice Buddhist temple and a view point over Hua Hin.
Nightlife
After dark Hua Hin offers a variety of restaurants of all styles and bars and clubs. The most famous one in the city is Hua Hin Brewing company. Here you can start off with a nice oriental dinner and move into the club when the live music starts around 10pm. A bit outside the city you will also find another famous club named "Hin Nam Sai Suay" with live music until 2am. It's easy to get around in Hua Hin. If you don't rent your own motorbike there are always a tuk tuk taxi that will take you around.
