S.U.P - Stand Up Paddling

Mankind invented paddling decades ago. This also goes for wave surfing.....

However, just a few years ago, some forward thinking inventors came up with a new concept that combines these two sports. They came up with SUP, Stand Up Paddling. The components used are not new, they are just tuned a bit. The board looks like a regular long board used for surfing, with some changes. Add a paddle and you are ready to go

Now you must be thinking.... "This are not for me, it looks too difficult..." We are pleased to say that you are wrong thinking that :-)

Starboard is one of the producers of SUP and they have since the beginning grown to be one of the largest producers of SUP and windsurfing / sails. One of the biggest goals of Starboard is to make products that everyone can have fun on. Starboard was one of the first companies that made windsurfing available for everyone. What did they do?.... They made the boards more wider and stable. In time, these boards also turned out to be faster than the regular boards. Now all brands in the world use this design.

By adding the paddle, a whole new world opens for this sport. Now you are not bound to only use them surfing waves, but you can use them anywhere there are water. Take it a trip on calm water or down some rivers. Many people also use them solely for exercise purpose. By taking the board out for a paddle trip you use almost all your mussels in your upper body making it a healthy choice.

In time when you get the feeling of the board and the paddle, you will be drawn towards trying your fist small wave. Navigate the board with the wave direction, build up some speed with the paddle and surf the wave using the paddle for balance control. Nailing the first wave is a feeling we cannot describe. It has to be discovered by you. WOW is the first word you will say when you hit your fist wave. After this, learning goes fast as you have the paddle to rely on.
