Windsurfing
Patented in 1970, the sport of windsurfing are more than 40 years old. It started as a sport for special interested and has since that time undergone a huge face lift. Starboard was one of the companies that took the challenge and made this a sport for everyone. The first windsurfing packages where difficult to set up and handle. Small and slim board where believed at that time was the best. To start you had to take a water start as the board was too small to hold the person. Starboard took this challenge and made the boards wider and more stable. Now you can stand on them and pull up the sail and go from there. In time it also turned out that these boards where faster than the old small one, and now all brands worldwide provide such boards.

After just one hour instructions, you are able to take you first ride down wind. Slowly, you will learn to feel the wind and go upwind. During this phase the board are not planning and you have not to high speed. Most people are happy with just this feeling. Getting to higher speeds require alot more training and experience. With the largest boards even two people can ride at the same time.
For the first lessons you will be taken through rigging of the board and sail and preparing it for the water. Next step is handling and carrying. After that you will go into the water and have your first balance trials when the instructor holds the board for you. Once you feel ready, you will slowly pull the sail up and feel the wind start to carry you away.
